Looking for a pool fence that's safe, good-looking and easy to live with? For many Brisbane homes, aluminium is the answer. It's one of the most popular pool fences across the city – and in the western suburbs, from Chelmer and Graceville to Oxley, Sherwood, Kenmore and Chapel Hill, it's a fence we install and repair every week.
Here are five reasons it's such a good fit for Brisbane pools.
1. Built for Brisbane's climate
Brisbane is tough on outdoor structures. Hot summers, heavy storms, high humidity and pool chemicals all take their toll. Aluminium doesn't rust, which makes it well suited to our subtropical weather and to life right beside the water.
A quality powder-coated finish adds another layer of protection, so your fence keeps its colour and finish for years.
2. Low maintenance
Aluminium pool fencing needs very little looking after. There's no painting or sealing, and it doesn't show splash marks the way glass can. An occasional hose-down – or a wipe with water and a mild detergent – is usually all it needs.
The one thing to keep an eye on is the gate. Check that it still closes and latches on its own every time, and that nothing climbable has found its way next to the fence.
3. A look and colour to suit your home
Aluminium pool fencing comes in a range of colours, so you can match your house, trims or garden – from classic black that blends into the landscaping to crisp white for a coastal feel.
It also adapts to almost any yard:
- Raked panels follow stairs and sloping ground, which suits the hilly blocks around Kenmore and Chapel Hill.
- Matching gates keep the look consistent all the way around the pool.
- Curved and stepped runs work around decks, retaining walls and garden beds.
4. Strong, durable and easy to repair
Although it's lightweight, aluminium is strong and durable when it's correctly installed. It won't rot, and it resists corrosion, so it's a sensible long-term choice.
If a panel ever gets damaged – a falling branch or a run-in with the mower – we can usually replace just that section rather than the whole fence. That keeps repairs quick and affordable, and keeps your pool safely fenced.
5. Affordable and quick to install
Aluminium is usually the more budget-friendly pool fence, especially for longer runs or larger blocks. It's also quick to install, so a new pool can be fenced and compliant sooner.

It still has to meet the pool safety rules
Whatever it's made of, your pool fence must meet Queensland's pool safety standard. A few of the key rules from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC):
- At least 1200mm high at every point, measured from the finished ground level.
- No gaps over 100mm – under the fence or between the bars.
- Gates must close and latch on their own.
- Climbable objects kept well clear of the fence.
We design every aluminium fence to comply from day one, so you don't have to work through the rules yourself. You can read more on the QBCC website.
Prefer the look of glass?
Aluminium isn't the only option. If you'd like uninterrupted views of the pool, frameless glass may suit you better – and plenty of homes use both. Our guide to glass vs aluminium pool fencing compares them side by side.
